What is the CIO Series?
A regular webinar featuring our CIO and distinguished guest speakers to discuss macro, markets, sectors and stocks, including top-down investment themes and bottom-up stock picks. The session consists of a presentation followed by a Q&A.
Synopsis
Despite the Fed’s first rate hike in over three years and surging 10-year Treasury yields, our anticipated “Sep-Oct market awakening” has yet to materialize, thanks to continuing strong AI fundamentals. S&P 500 earnings are expected to remain robust in 3Q, but top-down uncertainties such as the Iran conflict and the US midterm elections are still looming. Our key theme of “Macro Shocks vs. AI Tailwinds” therefore remains very much intact. Against this backdrop, our US Strategist Wendy Chen and I will share our read-throughs from the US earnings season, key risks and opportunities surrounding the midterm elections, and initial outlook for 2027.
